The Great Rotary Duck Race was established in 1988 by the Eugene-Delta
Rotary Club, and has since become the single largest fund raiser
in our area in the fight against child abuse.
Until this year, money raised by the Duck Race benefitted Eugene-Springfield
area agencies such as Eugene's Relief
Nursery and Scar Jasper
Mountain.
Finally, after applying numerous times without success, the Family Relief Nursery
was recognized as a 2003 recipient agency with a grant of more than
$16,000. This grant will allow us to keep the preschool theraputic
early childhood class open throughout the next biennium.
The Cottage Grove
Rotary Club founded the Family Relief Nursery almost ten years
ago with an initial grant of $5,000 and continues to help us meet
our annual budgetary goals. As a result of our Duck Race recognition
this year, the local Rotary Club has joined forces with the Eugene-Springfield
Rotary Clubs to promote this fundraiser.
Tickets for the Duck Race are only $5 (books of tickets are only
$125) and can be purchased at the Family Relief Nursery, from any
member of the Cottage Grove Rotary Club, from any Rotarian in the
Eugene-Springfield area, and from at DariMart stores. The Race will
be held October 11, 2003, and will be a significant benefit to us
- not only this year, but also in the future years.
